No bada 2.0 update this year

Bada 2.0 on S8500

Samsung has confirmed that it will delay the release of bada 2.0 until Q1 of 2012.

This news may sadden some of us, but I have no doubt that the wait will prove to be worthwhile. Having used the beta version of bada 2.0 for a while, I am amazed at the capabilities of the upgraded platform, but I am wary of the bugs that exist. Hopefully, the final version that will be released to all Wave users early next year will provide a hassle-free experience.

The update was originally due to be released sometime during Q4 of 2011.

bada 2.0 will bring many new features to the current Wave series including:

  • Samsung Touchwiz 3.0
  • ChatOn
  • Vlingo voice command app
  • Better multi-tasking
  • Swype input
  • Live Panel

… and more.

The Wave 3 currently ships with bada 2.0 pre-installed. The new Wave smartphones also feature NFC capabilities supported by bada 2.0.
