Full year stats by Canalys finally show bada making the charts at 5th place
2011 was a very successful year for the bada platform. Not only did we see great improvements to the platform itself, we welcomed the introduction of new smartphones to the Wave range of phones and we watched the platform market share grow extensively. In 2011, bada achieved the second highest growth (183.1%) in the share of smartphone shipments!
What do the stats show us:
These stats reveal that bada is the largest smartphone platform that has not yet shipped to the US. This is a great achievement as the US market contributes a lot to the market share of the other platforms and also helps to spread their influence globally. bada has managed to achieve a 2.7% share of smartphone shipments while it ships to only a select few countries globally. With some countries only having received the Wave I and II devices with bada along with hundreds of Android phones from different manufacturers, this shipment share is truly an achievement to celebrate. Imagine if bada is introduced to the US, Canada and all of Africa through the Wave 3!
Windows Phone which ships globally (including the US and Canada) saw a dramatic decrease in market share in 2011, despite Nokia’s attempts to introduce it to a wider range of users. In 2008, Microsoft enjoyed a 13.6% share of the smartphone market with is Windows Mobile platform. That share dropped to just 1.4% in 2011.
It is important to note such comparisons because these comparisons are what influence app developers who opt for platforms with larger market shares to sell their apps. bada’s growth will surely attract many developers to the platform, (a fact that has already shown to be true).
So what do you expect from bada this year? A wave 4? bada 2.2? Share your thoughts with us.

i dont expect too much from BADA or samsung,
just regular updates, good apps and games..
not just themes …
and proper support
If Samsung introduce bada to the US market, then I expect a real growth. If not I expect bada to grow slowly but with no real impact on the global mobile market.
what u want to do TO INTRODUCING wave 4 FIRSTLY YOU HAVE TO PAY ATTENTION ON WAVE. FAMOUS APPS WHICH IS REQUIRE NOT LAUNCHED Yet.
I hope for more applications, more markets and android apps to download on the wave phone.
really better to put much and grow in same technology than realising new. thr r such less free games and application for bada. themes r like big stock. pls put those first as this ur own os u sld much fastr in thia than android.
andriod is good than bada
